This recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358).

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements to be considered for employment at this time.

Position Overview

Criminal Justice Technician 2 (CJT2) is the sole administrative support for the Tok Post, assisting the public, sergeant, and three troopers and serving as the Post's evidence custodian. Administrative duties include in‑person and telephonic receptionist duties, accurately entering data into criminal databases, processing criminal paperwork, collecting fees and reconciling cash, ensuring payroll is completed correctly and timely, and ordering and maintaining post supplies.

Evidence custodian duties include receiving, storing and managing property, maintaining the chain of custody for all evidence—including weapons, drugs and paraphernalia, currency, sensitive documents, vehicles, bio‑hazards—and managing and providing evidentiary discovery to the District Attorney's Office.

Working Conditions

Co‑located with DMV at 1314 Alaska Highway, the Tok Trooper Post has a private entrance for employees. The CJT2’s desk is in an open area behind the public counter, near the sergeant’s office and trooper’s squad room but separated from the prisoner holding cells. The public counter is separated by a window and the front door can be locked and unlocked remotely.

Training

Successful completion of formal Criminal Justice Technician 1‑2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska.

Equivalent Experience

Equivalent education or experience in criminal justice, juvenile justice, probation, parole, public safety, law enforcement, corrections, court, legal services, or related fields.
