The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for an Accountant 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doingAre you ready to make an impact in financial oversight and compliance? In this role, you’ll be at the center of ensuring accuracy and accountability for critical projects across the state. You’ll tackle complex financial challenges, support project teams, and help maintain compliance with federal and state regulations—all while contributing to initiatives that shape Alaska’s infrastructure and future.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and monitor daily financial transactions to ensure compliance with federal regulations, Alaska Statutes, the Alaska Administrative Manual, Department policies, IRS regulations, GAAP, and GASB standards.
- Research and resolve IRIS system errors, reconcile capital project budgets and billing discrepancies, and implement processes to support accurate project monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with regional project control offices and project managers by preparing and delivering financial reports for account reconciliation, ensuring project timelines align with federal awards and OMB Uniform Guidance.
- Develop and modify ALDER reports to meet reporting needs.

Working environment you can expectOur office in Juneau is conveniently located at 3.5 mile, next to SEARHC and close to DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, a central location with plenty of parking and a view of the channel. You may work in various locations, including remote and urban centers, addressing a wide range of transportation needs.
Who we are looking for- Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations.
- Federal Funds Processing: Knowledge of methods and procedures for processing direct and reimbursable program funds, grants, loans, and credit programs.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
Equivalence:
Any combination of preparatory post‑secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional‑level experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management.
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively. “Typically gained by” refers to the typical method of gaining these competencies.
