Position: Eligibility Technician 2 (PCN 068140M)

In this position, you will be part of the statewide Public Assistance Eligibility Team. Together, we will help Alaskan families, elders, and those in need reach higher levels of independence and self‑sufficiency. Eligibility Technicians assist the public by connecting them to a variety of public assistance programs and services offered by the agency.

The workplace is in our Juneau office, located at 1002 Glacier Hwy, Suite 200, Juneau, AK. The office is conveniently located in the heart of the valley and offers shopping centers, athletic facilities, walking trails, and public transportation options. Qualifications
  • Eligibility Determinations: Knowledge of federal and/or state program regulations, policies, and procedures required to evaluate financial, personal, medical, and household information to determine program eligibility, authorize benefits, and maintain case records within mandatory time frames.
  • Arithmetic/Mathematical Reasoning: Performs computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division correctly; solves practical problems by choosing appropriately from a variety of mathematical techniques such as formulas and percentages.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships and deals with diverse populations.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Minimum qualifications:

One year of entry‑level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or one year of similar work. Post‑secondary education in fields such as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience.
