Licensing Examiner ; PCN

The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development's Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing is recruiting for a Licensing Examiner 2 position.

The primary duty station is located in Juneau. Teleworking opportunities are potentially available for these positions following an initial training period.

The Licensing Examiner 2 position performs a wide variety of administrative assignments necessary to ensure qualified individuals are issued professional licenses for one or more of the division's professional licensing programs, including at least one of the division's 21 programs regulated by a professional licensing board. This position's duties include managing applicant files in a variety of formats, utilizing the in-house professional licensing database effectively, communicating with licensees verbally and in writing, ensuring supplemental documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with licensing standards, and assisting the board's lead staff member in preparation for certain board-related tasks as needed.

Licensing examiners are often the primary point of contact for the public and serve as a liaison between the division and applicants.

The official duty station is located in our main office in on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in Juneau. Our offices have updated furnishings and are centrally located in downtown Juneau.

The work environment is friendly, professional, and cooperative, with regular interaction with colleagues, other state agencies, and the general public. We foster personal growth, independent work, self-motivation, and exceptional judgment. Our daily working environment is challenging and very busy with a high volume of customer contact through many methods including communication through the professional licensing database, email, phone, video conference, and sometimes in-person.

Our staff is highly focused with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Positions with the State of Alaska offer a flexible 7.5-hour workday, with schedules typically falling between Monday–Friday, 8:00a.m. and 4:30p.m., and adjustments available within reason.
