Clinical Assistant Specialty Care - 32 hours per week

This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow to maximize provider time and ensure access to care. The Clinical Assistant III performs administrative duties, data management, basic clinical tasks, rooming patients, performing point‑of‑care testing, lab draws, immunizations, and other injections within scope of practice.
Leads Clinical Assistant I and II positions.
- Accurately collects and documents information in patient chart, keeps records organized, copies and compiles other medical data as needed.
- Ensures patient medication and immunization records are current.
- Recognizes signs or symptoms requiring prompt intervention and acts appropriately.
- Transports patients within the facility, as needed.
- Manages patient care duties while maintaining clinic flow.
- Reports and records any changes, unusual incidents, or safety breaches; observes patients who require supervision.
- Sets up equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures.
- Prepares patients for and assists with procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries.
- Collects specimens and performs point‑of‑care testing following protocols.
- Performs and assists with radiology exams per protocol if competent.
- Assists provider as directed within licensed scope of practice.
- Assists clinic nurse as needed.
- Administers immunizations and injections as ordered.
- Performs basic life support as certified.
- Assists provider in identifying patients overdue for immunizations and preventative maintenance.
- Provides cross‑coverage for peers, ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Attends and participates in at least 50% of area staff meetings annually; applies information, participates in goal‑setting, complies with scheduling guidelines, addresses issues with manager, and addresses employee concerns per HR policy.

- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or
- EMT III current AK certification or
- Current AK Paramedic certification or
- Nursing degree from an accredited institution can replace the above requirements.
- Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Clinic procedures for patient visits and related treatments.
- Age‑appropriate vital signs and behaviors.
- Life‑saving procedures.
- Medical terminology and use of various computer programs.
- Communication and customer‑service skills.
- Computer application skills sufficient to use medical database.
- Ability to operate medical equipment such as blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, and manual defibrillator.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Train and use various EMR systems and accurately record patient data.
- Communicate and interact with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
