Overview
Job Summary For Certified Medical Assistant. MUST HOLD NATIONAL CERTIFICATION MEDICAL ASSISTANT CERTIFIED
Responsibilities- Provide clinical care to patients of all ages in an ambulatory care clinic setting.
- Maintain efficient clinic operations and patient flow to maximize provider time and ensure access to care.
- Perform administrative duties including data management and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Collect and document patient information, medical history, and keep medication/immunization records current.
- Recognize signs or symptoms requiring prompt intervention and act appropriately.
- Assist and support providers by rooming patients, performing Point of Care Testing (POCT), lab draws, and administering immunizations and injections within certification scope.
- Set up equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures; assist with treatments and minor office surgeries.
- Perform and assist with specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to protocol.
- Assist with radiology exams if competencies are met.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition, unusual incidents, or safety concerns.
- Ensure observation and assistance for children, elderly, or impaired patients as needed.
- Lead and support Clinical Assistant I and II positions; provide training and cross-coverage for peers.
- Participate in staff meetings, unit goal setting, and comply with clinic policies and guidelines.
- Operate medical equipment (e.g., blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG machine).
- Utilize EMR and other computer systems for data entry and patient management.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Comply with safety and risk management protocols, report accidents/injuries, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED (or Nursing Degree from accredited institution).
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to operate medical equipment and perform age-appropriate care.
- Physically able to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and assist with patient mobility.
- Willingness to work in office and healthcare settings with potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
