Hours of Work: M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

The Community & Behavioral Services (CBS) Clinician is responsible for clinical management of participant needs in the CBS Healing Center. Incumbent will manage caseloads to address behavioral services around treatment for substance use disorders and mental health issues. CBS Clinician will provide culturally responsive and compassionate therapeutic services to assist in the mental, emotional, and social well‑being of Tribal citizens, families, and communities.

• Maintain complete participant case files with timely and compliant documentation
• Provide culturally responsive and trauma‑informed therapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, and families
• Continuous evaluation around the effectiveness of treatment for participants on caseload
• Develop, implement, and facilitate culturally responsive, age‑appropriate groups (e.g., psychoeducation, coping skills, anger management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for adults and children
• Advocate for adherence to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and for the preservation and reunification of Alaska Native/American Indian families
• Uphold ICWA statutes and practices by working closely with Tribal Family & Youth Services (TFYS) staff for families and children involved with Office of Children Services
• Participate in and facilitate case conferences with TFYS staff and other agencies on Tribal cases
• Provide culturally responsive traditional healing practices, activities, and functions including therapeutic and educational groups to strengthen cultural identity
• Complete integrated assessments for substance use disorder and mental health issues
• Provide counseling and proper referrals to services that Tlingit & Haida does not currently offer
• Provide monthly data for operational reports
• Complete annual training plans to ensure clinician maintains competency levels to the highest standard in evidence‑based training areas such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Substance Use Disorder Interventions, and Trauma Informed training
• Plan, develop and implement workshops/training on culturally responsive therapeutic practices for working with Alaska Native/American Indians
• Participate in providing presentation on mental wellness
• Participate in community engagement events and activities
• Acquire ongoing continuing education (CEU’s) to maintain professional licensure
• Other duties as assigned

• Knowledge of Federal Indian Child Welfare Act (Public Law 95-608) and its significance, history, and implementation
• Ability to abide by the basic regulations, operating policies, and procedures regarding Tlingit & Haida programs
• Knowledge of community needs, problems, and resources
• Sensitivity to diverse cultures and community standards
• Recognize and reinforce the inherent strengths of Alaska Native/ American Indians families and communities
• Ability to design, develop and implement curriculums that are relevant both culturally and therapeutically to Alaska Native/American Indians
• Ability to educate and advocate for children, youth, adults, and families
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Ability to be self‑directed in problem solving and decision making
• Ability to work collaboratively with professionals at all levels to achieve established goals and improve quality outcomes
• Specialized experience in culturally responsive substance use disorder and mental health treatment
• Advanced clinical skills in working with Alaska Natives/American Indians and the commitment to provide high standards of care
• Protect and maintain confidentiality of participants

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or Related field
• Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) Certification (or active pursuit of qualification)
• Two years of clinical experience providing counseling services
• Valid Driver License
