Salary Range: $20.00 To $23.00 Hourly
REACH, Inc. is currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and community-minded individual to join our team as a Day Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP). In this role, you will provide hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them build independence, develop life skills, and actively participate in their communities.
The primary focus of this position is supporting individuals in community-based activities, including shopping, recreation, appointments, classes, and social events. While some support may be provided in the individual's home, the majority of services are centered on helping people engage safely and meaningfully in their communities. A Day in the Life of a Day Habilitation DSPAs a Day Habilitation DSP, you will s upport individuals in de veloping skills, increasing independence, and participating fully in their communities. You will assist individuals in accessing community resources, attending appointments, shopping, participating in recreational and social activities, completing errands, and exploring personal interests.
You will build respectful relationships, follow each person's Individual Service Plan (ISP), help individuals achieve their personal goals, complete required documentation, and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
Responsibilities may include:- Providing community-based support and skill development
- Transporting individuals to appointments, shopping, recreational activities, community events, and other community-based activities
- Supporting individuals in building independence with communication, problem-solving, money management, social skills, and daily living activities
- Encouraging participation in community activities and fostering meaningful connections
- Supporting individuals with personal care needs as required
- Assisting with meal preparation, household tasks, and other in-home supports when needed
- Following Individual Service Plans and implementing support strategies
- Completing accurate documentation and progress notes
- Maintaining a safe and positive environment in both community and home settings
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication, reliability, and compassion
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable supporting individuals in a variety of community settings
- Ability to plan activities, solve problems, and adapt to changing schedules
Because community participation is a primary responsibility of this position, candidates must be able to transport individuals safely throughout the community.
- 21+ with 3 years driving experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Current DMV report and auto insurance
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle in varying weather and road conditions
- Ability to transport individuals to community activities throughout the workday
- Standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to assist individuals physically when needed
- Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens
- Must pass and maintain a background check
- CPR & First Aid certification and TB clearancerequiredwithin
