Job Description What You Will Be Doing
What if you could help shape how the State of Alaska approaches performance management?
Every supervisor across the State of Alaska has a responsibility to set expectations, provide feedback, recognize strong performance, and address performance concerns. Behind those conversations is a statewide performance management system that needs to be clear, meaningful, user-friendly, and continuously evolving. As a Human Resource Consultant 3 with the Learning & Development Program within the Division of Personnel, you will play a critical role in making that happen.
This position will serve as a key resource for the State's statewide performance management program, helping ensure our practices, resources, tools, and systems continue to evolve with current HR best practices and the needs of the State of Alaska’s workforce. You’ll lead trainings for departments, look at what is working, identify where employees and supervisors are struggling, use data and feedback to uncover trends, and turn those insights into practical improvements that make performance management easier to understand and more effective.
You’ll also help strengthen the HR professionals who support agencies across the State — developing onboarding and professional development for Human Resource Consultants, identifying common HR challenges and themes, and creating learning opportunities that help HR Business Partners provide better consultation to their agencies. You'll bring your HR expertise into the classroom as well, supporting the Academy for Supervisors, leadership development, and other statewide learning initiatives.
As a Human Resource Consultant 3 with the Learning & Development Program within the Division of Personnel, you will be instrumental in:
- Leading and advancing the State's statewide performance management program.
- Serve as a key subject matter expert and consultant for performance management, helping ensure practices, resources, processes, and tools remain current, effective, and user-friendly. You'll research and bring forward emerging HR and performance management practices, use data and feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and work with agencies, HR professionals, supervisors, and employees to translate those practices into meaningful and practical solutions.
You'll also design and facilitate performance management training, workshops, and learning experiences that help supervisors and employees understand expectations, strengthen performance conversations, and confidently navigate the State's performance management processes. - Build the knowledge and capability of HR professionals across the State.
