Job Description

As an Analyst/Programmer 5, you will supervise a team of developers involved in database management, systems integration, and application development. You will participate in or direct others in application lifecycle management activities, using established industry project management best practices along with departmental guidelines and tools. Additionally, you will assist customers in defining system requirements and designing production systems.

Six years of computer programming experience, of which at least two years were at the project leader or systems design level. This is equivalent to an Analyst/Programmer 4 with the State of Alaska. Two years of experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty. The specialized experience may be gained concurrently.

A bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with 18 semester (or 24 quarter) hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associate’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience in a specialty area.

There is no substitute for the systems analysis and design or project leadership experience.

An applicant who is considered under the substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
