Job Overview
The IT Systems Administrator will provide general IT support at the Greens Creek mine site on Admiralty Island, Alaska. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and mobile devices, and managing the on‑site Windows and Office 365 environment. The position requires independent work on a remote island and the availability for after‑hours response.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general business system technology support: install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, phones, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Engage requests, incidents, and communications through Hecla’s service desk ticketing system as the primary driver of efforts.
- Provide help‑desk level support for Office 365 and enterprise cloud‑based file repository.
- Administer the Greens Creek portion of Active Directory in a multi‑tenant environment.
- Maintain workstation software, apply patches, and ensure backup procedures.
- Support end‑user applications and enforce Hecla cybersecurity and digital control standards.
- Assist network team with Layer 2/3 connectivity issues, troubleshoot cabling, and manage cable practices.
- Document solutions and root‑cause analysis on tickets.
- Coordinate with corporate infrastructure and network teams to meet site functional requirements.
- Plan and prioritize work activities, developing realistic action plans with stakeholder engagement.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, management, contractors, vendors, and employees.
- Respond during non‑working hours to address urgent IT situations.
- 3 years of business IT experience preferred, including network environment support and multi‑location work.
- Experience with Active Directory administration in a Windows environment.
- Ability to evaluate multiple solutions, apply standards, and document conclusions.
- Strong communication skills and customer‑service orientation.
- Experience with digital technology standards and cybersecurity controls.
- Excellent time‑management and the ability to work independently.
- Strong judgment, confidentiality, and diplomatic skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and other relevant business systems; seek and maintain applicable certifications.
- Consistent use of ticket‑based documentation, task systemization, and execution.
- Initiative to stay abreast of evolving technology.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain TWIC certification within 60 days of hire.
- Must possess current authorization to work in the United States.
- Pass a pre‑employment background check.
- Complete MSHA 24‑hour training or provide documentation.
- Pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
- Obtain TWIC certification within 60 days of hire.

The position follows a 15‑on/13‑off schedule with 12.5‑hour workdays.
Safety and Health Responsibilities- Comply with all company safety policies, MSHA rules, and environmental procedures.

- Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in resolving health and safety matters and support change initiatives.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe equipment usage.
- Participate in risk assessment and safety initiatives.
The role may require standing, walking, sitting, and handling equipment for extended periods. The work may involve exposure to underground conditions, extreme weather, wildlife, moving machinery, high places, fumes, chemicals, and electrical shock. Duties may be performed at night and on weekends. The position requires occasional night or weekend work.
