Sr Dir, Technical Operations at GovCIO Juneau, AK

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a Director of Operations to support the VA experience to support the Department of Veterans Affairs NEDIIS team to oversee the overall day to day operations of the NEDIIS program.

• Interact with GovCIO and VA management to interpret their needs and requirements
• Maintain existing and develop new processes and procedures to improve intra and inter-team operability and communication.
• Maintain and create intra-team knowledge articles to include network flow diagrams, databases, documents, etc.
• Participate in Management meetings for status briefing of current tasks and projects, vendor meetings and future planning of operations.
• Communicate effectively with Program Management and other project participants to provide assistance and support.
• Review deliverables and initiate appropriate action.
• Attend work groups, meetings and other technical exchanges to help develop project plans to ensure operations.
• Organize and visualize team work and team coherency.
• Review system documentation (Security Plans, Risk Assessments, Network Diagrams and SOPs) to further help develop and manage project outcomes and deliverable metrics.
• Conduct weekly, monthly or ad hoc meetings to ensure teams are meeting project deadlines and to gather feedback on how to improve current processes.
• Oversee approved routine maintenance implementation on applicable network security devices and applications.
• Develop a road map to lay out short and long term goals operation goals for efficiency.
• Provide mentorship to team personnel.
• Set and manage performance metrics and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence by adhering to GovCIO, VA NSOC, and intra-team policies and performance standards.
• Assign responsibilities and monitor tasks and project status.
• Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and techniques.
• Develop frameworks to prioritize IT tickets based on business impact and urgency.
• Work closely with the TIC Engineering and Network architecture teams for proper insight into network design, stability, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of network security service risk and issues.
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts and IP routing protocols.
• Leadership skill and decision-making ability with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Flexibility, ingenuity, creativity, diplomacy, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft tools - PowerPoint, MS Teams, Word, and Excel.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related technical field with 15+ years of experience. (5 years of additional experience may be substituted for degree.)
• Must be able to pass and maintain a Tier 4 (BI) Government Background Investigation.
