Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Program Management and Administration is looking for a long‑term nonpermanent IT Client Support Specialist 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Responsibilities- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot the State of Alaska’s computer systems and network infrastructure (LAN/WAN).
- Provide hands‑on and remote technical support to end‑users to resolve a wide range of IT issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure systems run smoothly, securely, and align with agency goals.
- Participate in network planning and system upgrades, contributing to the continuous improvement of our IT environment.
- Serve as a help‑desk triage expert, guiding frontline support and ensuring issues are resolved or escalated appropriately.
- Full‑time, long‑term, nonpermanent position with personal leave accrual.

- Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Information Assurance: Knowledge of methods and procedures to protect information systems and data by ensuring availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Systems Integration: Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information system components.
- Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine source and cause of the problem.
Essential experience may include:
- Training and experience in installing new computers, printers, and other peripheral devices; loading and troubleshooting software and hardware systems; maintaining security software; and configuring network settings for workstations.
- Knowledge of configuration management principles and methods.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and operational support practices.
- A Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC) is required; a background check will be conducted following a conditional job offer.
Alaska residents only. Position may be located in Juneau or Ketchikan. After hiring and training, and with supervisor approval, this position is appropriate for part‑time in‑state teleworking.
