Fixed Maintenance Utility Technician (Temporary)

Greens Creek Mine, operating since 1989 under Hecla Mining Company, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, Alaska.

Entry‑level general mill maintenance duties including washing, cleaning and painting. Work in an underground mine on a remote island. Safety inspections are required each day.

• Complete MSHA and department safety training within the first 4 days on the job.
• Perform wash, clean and paint tasks as assigned.
• Conduct workplace inspections each morning and prioritize work.
• Work 12.5‑hour days for 14 days followed by 14 days off.
• Support a team that relies on safety and teamwork.
• Safety inspections of all equipment and work areas before starting the day.
• Participate in risk assessment and safety initiatives.

• Comply with all safety requirements.
• Maintain personal protective equipment.
• Identify and report hazards.
• Assist in incident investigations.
• Improve work processes and support change.
• Ensure equipment operates within safe limits.

• Paint interior and exterior surfaces.
• Scrub floors and perform general cleaning.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
• Pass a position‑specific physical demands assessment.

Employees may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to talk and hear. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, stair and ladder climbing, stooping, twisting, squatting, and vision and hearing specific tasks as described.
