Summary
The University of Alaska Southeast’s School of Arts & Sciences is seeking an experienced Fiscal and Administrative Manager to serve as the financial backbone of our vibrant academic community. As a full‑time exempt position based in Juneau, Alaska, the successful candidate will oversee approximately $7.9 million in combined annual Fund 1 and Fund 2 budgets across the School’s four academic departments:
Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Business/Public Administration.
As the primary financial leader for the School of Arts & Sciences, the Fiscal and Administrative Manager will plan, direct, and control a comprehensive portfolio, including budget development and analysis, to ensure fiscal integrity across all departments. The role includes membership on the Dean’s Council, partnership with Department Chairs and the Associate Dean on course scheduling and enrollment management, and representation of the School in engagements with internal university leadership and external funding partners.
Responsibilities- Oversee planning, directing, and controlling the School’s financial portfolio and manage a multimillion‑dollar budget.
- Develop and analyze budgets for all four academic departments.
- Ensure compliance with complex university, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Serve on the Dean’s Council and collaborate with department leadership on scheduling and enrollment decisions.
- Represent the School in interactions with university leadership and external stakeholders.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in business or educational administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience managing multimillion‑dollar budgets and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated success in sponsored program management and applying complex compliance requirements.
- Strong communication skills for translating complex financial information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to advise senior leadership, manage competing priorities, and build trust across faculty, staff, and administration.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThe position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau. It is a full‑time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package, including retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires are placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
