Packaging Machine Operator - Shift

Full time position at Winland Foods, Inc. in Tolleson, AZ. The company focuses on producing high‑quality pasta and private label products for grocery suppliers.

Position:
Packaging Machine Operator – 12 Hour Shift Days (Day shift 6AM–6:30PM). Rate: $20.80 per hour.

Supervision:
Production Supervisor.

• Monitor product flow from strippers and silos to packaging machines.
• Clear product jams at stripers, in turners, chimneys and scales.
• Add cartons and change packaging films.
• Add containers to case packers.
• Make operational adjustments to maintain proper machine rates and packaging quality.
• Perform machine and product changeovers accurately within the standard allocated time for individual lines.
• Add glue and tape.
• Operate and changeover code daters, printers and labelers.
• Monitor and adjust scales to ensure proper weights.
• Complete required production paperwork to calculate run time, efficiencies and cases produced.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment.
• Ensure work areas are clean and GMPs are fully complied with.
• Accept responsibility for AIB scores in the packaging area.
• Ensure compliance with all safety programs and maintain hazard‑free work areas.
• Produce safe, legal and quality product.
• Adjust own work schedule to support a two‑shift operation, including overtime as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members to support a self‑directed work environment.
• Use sound judgment to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

• Good communication skills.
• Good math skills.
• Solid mechanical aptitude with technical training or equivalent manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Creative troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Working knowledge of: storage and product delivery systems; computer scales and other weighing devices; metal detectors and check weighers; cartoners, baggers, case packers, and sealers.
• Ability to lift 50lb and push loaded totes with caster wheels over 750lb.
• Ability to learn to use computer terminals and computer‑based equipment.
• Familiarity with formal safety procedures and adherence to them.
• Mechanical ability to analyze basic irregularities in equipment operation.
• Capability to calculate basic math functions accurately and quickly (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percent, etc.).
• Initiative, judgment and reliability in carrying out required functions on a timely basis.
• Capacity to accomplish all assigned duties.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
