Position: Assisted Living Aide On-Call (PCN 06N18029)

Job Description

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Ketchikan Pioneer Home (KPH) is recruiting for on‑call Assisted Living Aide positions.

The KPH mission: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath." The on‑call aide is part of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person‑centered care and support in a safe environment for up to forty‑five (45) elders.

What you will be doing

Provide high‑quality personal care to assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. Following the resident’s Assisted Living Plan, assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of bed, wheelchairs, bathtubs, lifts, walkers, and canes, etc. Participate in team‐based programs promoting physical well‑being and relationships by involving residents in meaningful social interactions with other residents, family, friends, and staff.

Other Job Information
  • This position supports a 24‑hour Pioneer Home.
  • The Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility with contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish, and birds.
  • Employees undergo continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.
Minimum Qualifications

Physically capable of standing, walking, lifting, bending, and pushing.

Special Note
  • Background investigation and fingerprinting may be required.
  • Some positions require operation of State vehicles; applicants must possess an Alaska driver’s license and rights to military bases and hospitals.
  • Proof of being free from active pulmonary tuberculosis may be required; employees are screened annually.
Additional Required Information
  • Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor‑related) and three (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.
Pre‑hire Actions
  • Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
  • Provide current evidence of being free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
  • Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s), if available.
