Job Description
Flight Nurse - Airlift Northwest - Juneau, AK
ALNW, an Airlift Northwest member, seeks an experienced Flight Nurse to support operations in Juneau, AK.
Work Schedule- 90% FTE (36 hours per week), variable shifts
- Accountable for completing all Airlift Northwest work assignments and ensuring patient safety during transport.
- Provide basic and advanced life support measures to stabilize critically ill or injured patients across all age groups.
- Maintain proficiency in patient management in the aircraft and during flight, including adherence to FAA regulations.
- Participate in safety reporting, shift briefings, cabin checklists, debriefings, and post‑flight quality improvement activities.
- Prepare aircraft environment: oxygen therapy, airway equipment, IV fluids, medications, and other required treatments.
- On arrival at referring site, introduce transport personnel, assist with stabilization, and coordinate with medical control.
- Deliver total patient care in flight, monitor status, and intervene with the other flight nurse as necessary.
- Maintain electronic and written patient records, transfer records to receiving personnel, and restock flight bags and aircraft.
- Report equipment or patient management issues to the Airlift Administrator on Call or Medical Director.
- Participate in debriefings, flight team meetings, and educational sessions, ensuring attendance of at least half of scheduled meetings annually.
- Assist in teaching and training of orientees, flight physicians, and engage in public education and public relations activities.
- Ensure compliance with Airlift Northwest policies, HIPAA, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain positive public image and professional relationships.
- Other duties as required.
- Seasonal exposure to extreme cold and heat, frequent temperature changes, noise, vibrations, hypoxia, high‑ionized radiation, toxic chemicals, dehydration, motion sickness, gas expansion, sudden decompression, and potential communicable disease exposure.
- Nursing license in good standing; obtain Alaska and Washington licenses prior to start.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Five years of experience in critical care, emergency department, or specialty care (pediatric/adult experience preferred).
- Excellent physical and mental health; ability to cope with extreme emotional and physical stress; no lifting, vision, or hearing limitations.
- Adherence to Airlift Northwest dress code and policies.
- Two‑year commitment to the Airlift Northwest flight program.
- Current passport required; carry passport on all transports.
- Current ACLS, PALS, NRP, BLS; trauma course provided and maintained.
- Advanced nursing certification (CCRN, CEN, CFRN, etc.) required prior to hire; obtain CFRN within two years of employment.
- Dependable, positive interpersonal communication skills.
Pay Range: $94,824.00 – $ annually.
Other Compensation:
- $1/hour BSN premium
- $1.25/hour nursing specialty certification premium
- $4.50/hour nights
- $4/hour weekends
