Experience: Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ambulatory or urgent care clinic

License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license required

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred

Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX

Description:

This position functions within the Urgent Care setting providing appropriate and timely nursing care for patients of all ages.

The RN will work within a nursing team consisting of RNs, LPNs, and Clinical Assistants.

The RN will provide full assessments, prioritize patient needs, perform skills, and coordinate care as ordered by providers.

The RN is expected to use critical thinking to work within standing orders to expedite care and patient services.

As necessary, the RN may work in other nursing roles to cover departmental functions daily.

Perform duties in a responsible, professional, and compassionate manner to provide excellent patient care.

The RN will perform initial triage and assessments of patients presenting for urgent care services.

The RN also provides telephone services including assessment and advice on self-care and appropriate care options.

Assessment will include history of present illness, vital sign measurements, gathering of data, immunization status, and preventative health needs.

The RN may take direction from providers through written, verbal, or standing orders.

Administer therapeutic measures including medication administration via various routes and operation of specialized equipment.

Initiate IV access, maintain the site, monitor patients, and discontinue IV therapy as necessary.

Document assessments, observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, and health education provided to patients.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment including adequate supplies.

Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.

Maintain annual competencies including safety and infection control requirements.

Facilitate the coordination of patient referrals and track the progress of referrals and outcomes of care.

Serve as a primary link for care coordination and proactively identify delays and obstacles to care.

Contact patients for follow-up calls and handle each situation appropriately.

Work collaboratively by building rapport with team members and participate in departmental improvement efforts.

Participate in continued professional development of the clinical team.

Respond to emergency situations and perform triage duties as necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects to provide comprehensive health services.

Responsibilities include remaining calm and focused during stressful situations while ensuring excellent patient care.
