Job Description

The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 position located at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) in Juneau, Alaska.

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Provide general nursing care to patients to include triage and assessment

Administer prescribed medications and treatments

Maintain patient medical records

Observe, document, and report changes in the physical and mental conditions of inmates

Handle Crisis situations in a calm and effective manner

RN’s working at LCCC can expect a patient population of about 400 individuals. Nurses will need to become fluent in our policies, procedures, and protocols, have a deep understanding of their scope of practice, and be comfortable practicing in a highly autonomous setting.

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;

Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska;

One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Corrections Nurse 1, Psychiatric Nurse 1, or Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
