Job Overview
This position works for the Facilities Services department of UAS. As a student worker, the candidate will provide campus beautification and safety by planting and caring for ornamental trees, shrubs, annual and perennial flowers, lawn and hardscape maintenance, snow removal and sanding, and a full range of other landscaping maintenance tasks. The worker will cooperate with and take direction from the Grounds Lead Person and Landscape Superintendent, performing general labor and other semi‑skilled duties when assisting tradesmen as directed.
This may be an ideal position for candidates who enjoy being outside and working with their hands. UAS has one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation with grounds and landscaping that enhances our educational buildings, housing, pathways, and this wonderful setting in southeast Alaska. UAS Grounds is seeking student workers to help with campus maintenance. This will be a part‑time position, maximum of 20 hrs per week.
- Planting and caring for ornamental trees, shrubs, annual and perennial flowers
- Perform lawn and hardscape maintenance
- Snow removal and sanding
- Assist with other landscaping maintenance tasks
- Cooperate with the Grounds Lead Person and Landscape Superintendent
- Assist tradesmen with general labor and semi‑skilled duties as directed
- University of Alaska student, enrolled and regularly attending six or more credit hours
- 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average (CGPA)
- Valid driver's licence and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria
- Location:
UAS campus in Juneau, AK - Part‑time, student position
- Salary: UA Student Salary Schedule, Grade 2, step 15 ($14.96/hour)
