What you will doThe Safety Technician assists the Safety Manager in implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe workplace through compliance with health, wellness, environmental, and safety laws. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating hazards, communicating safety importance to employees, interpreting OSHA guidelines, and supporting company initiatives to enhance safety practices.
- Conduct daily facility walkthroughs at the beginning and end of each shift to assess potential hazards.
- Maintain daily communication with employees and management regarding safety needs and requirements.
- Identify and remediate safety issues, adopting preventive measures.
- Display comprehensive understanding of safety, environmental, and health issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety laws and procedures.
- Identify and recommend solutions to safety issues and support the adoption of preventive initiatives.
- Assist in accident investigations and implement corrective action measures.
- Support safety-related projects of limited complexity in a support role.
- Associate’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, or related field, or relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and objectively, both verbally and in writing.
- General knowledge and understanding of behavioral based safety and its various applications.
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental health issues, laws, and OSHA regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks assigned by management promptly.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a proactive approach.
- Availability to work all shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Performs jobs under varying conditions (dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, noise, etc.). Ability to lift 50 lbs. Floor to waist, waist to shoulder, overhead, carry 20 feet. Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection).
