Cashier, Retail

We are looking for a dependable and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at the Lemon Creek or Valley location, which features grocery, liquor, and deli items. The ideal candidate will provide fast, friendly service while accurately handling transactions and maintaining a clean, organized checkout area.

• Greet customers and create a welcoming experience.
• Operate the cash register and process sales for grocery, deli, and liquor items.
• Verify age for alcohol and tobacco purchases in compliance with state laws.
• Handle cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout and front-end areas.
• Assist with stocking shelves, coolers, and front displays as needed.
• Monitor and restock register supplies (bags, receipt paper, etc.).
• Communicate effectively with deli staff and other team members.
• Follow all store policies, including safety, sanitation, and loss prevention.
• Report customer concerns, suspicious activity, or register discrepancies to management.

We provide full support to help new hires complete the following certifications, including guidance, scheduling assistance, and reimbursement for fees:

• Alaska Food Worker Permit – required for handling deli and food items.
• TAP (Training for Alcohol Professionals) through CHARR – for responsible alcohol sales.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous cashier or retail experience is a plus.
• Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Must be 21+ to handle liquor sales (per Alaska state law).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fast-paced convenience store setting.
• Interaction with customers, deli staff, and store management.
• Exposure to food prep areas, refrigerated sections, and liquor displays.
