As a Biologist
- Omics, you will perform the following duties:
- Support the application of laboratory and data analysis techniques to improve the effectiveness of fishery management and conservation of anadromous and marine organisms.
- Utilize molecular techniques to investigate various marine and anadromous species, including protected species, such as marine mammals, sea turtles, corals, and sharks.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of sample collection and curation, equipment maintenance, data generation, and will include assisting with purchasing, inventory and training new employees.
- With oversight, participate in laboratory sample processing, field work, data analysis and statistical modeling projects as needed. Participate in the development of robust data management planning and execution to meet all requirements of the Public Access to Research Results (PARR) Act.
NOTE:
These duties are described at the ZP-2; the ZP-2 is developmental leading to the full performance level of the ZP-3.
This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license to use federal motor vehicles to attend meetings with partners/stakeholders, and to visit research sites on a regular and recurring basis.
This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZP-2 is equivalent to the GS-07/09. This position has promotion potential to the ZP-3, which is equivalent to the GS-11/12.
