Environmental Specialist

This class is a stand‑alone classification in the Environmental Specialist series. Incumbents are responsible for conducting environmental monitoring, sampling, reporting, and compliance for Borough operations, primarily related to solid waste disposal. This role ensures regulatory compliance at Federal, state, and local levels, interprets technical environmental data, prepares reports, and supports environmentally responsible programs.

• Supports permit compliance through inspections, reports, sampling, and required submittals.
• Interprets and evaluates complex technical environmental data and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Responds to and resolves inquiries and concerns from the general public, partners, the business community, and staff.
• Conducts field investigations, environmental sampling, monitoring, and analysis.
• Prepares regulatory reports and technical documentation for landfill, leachate treatment plant, and related operations.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the area assigned, or an equivalent.
