Associate Scientist, Flavors - Health, Nutrition, and Beverage

We are looking to hire an Associate Scientist, Flavors – Health, Nutrition, and Beverage immediately at our McFONA facility in Geneva, IL.

This particular role focuses on the application science of flavoring customer products in the Health, Nutrition, and Beverage Business segments. This person will work closely with Flavor Creations, Analytical Sciences, Regulatory, Product Safety and Quality, and Sales departments.

• Assist Product Developers & Technicians with lab tasks / duties
• Develop basic benchtop application formulas
• Set up and screen flavors for oral evaluation
• Prepare and set up raw materials, finished products, and retention samples
• Manage lab inventory of raw materials, customer bases, & supplies needed to support daily tasks
• Maintain precise lab record / data keeping
• Maintain sanitation and lab organization
• Work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team
• Effectively communicate with related departments

• BSc in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
• Strong PC skills, experience operating in a Windows environment, managing files and handling data
• 1‑3 years experience in a Food manufacturing environment or lab; knowledge of food safety is a plus
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution
• Ability to be self‑directed and motivated
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage time and prioritize work effectively
• Experience following principles and making informed decision
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems
• Ability to present information to peers in a logical manner
• Must possess strong teamwork capabilities, and flexibility to adjust to customer demands including weekends and overtime on short notice
• Ability to work in a challenging and fast‑paced environment with changing practices
• Ability to lift 10 lbs continuously, 20 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally
• Solid math skills, including ability to work accurately with formulas and decimals
