Security Officer

Position Overview

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.04. This position provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff at assigned locations or areas. SEARHC is a non‑profit health consortium that serves the residents of Southeast Alaska. The role includes ensuring safety and security across campus and designated areas.

• Patrol campus and assigned areas to monitor for conditions or situations that pose a risk to people or property.
• Provide routine comprehensive security services, including:
• Assistance with patient restraint
• Intervention in disruptions by patients
• Traffic control
• Guarding and patrolling physical property
• Escorting visitors and employees
• Monitoring systems
• Orienting and monitoring personnel working in high‑risk areas
• Investigation of incidents
• Access control
• Enforcement of visitor policies
• Respond to emergencies
• Respirator fit testing
• Hazard surveillance surveys
• Participation in emergency drills
• Public assistance requests
• Other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Alaska driver’s license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
• IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months

• Six months of security‑related experience

• Effective communication
• Ability to defuse potential security situations, including aggressive individuals
• Exercise good judgement in stressful and emergent situations
