Pipe

Fitter – O&M North Slope Construction JOB SUMMARY

The Pipe Fitter will lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and assist welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial processing piping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Update and maintain the department filing system, records, and files.
  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to drawings and job specifications.
  • Inspect worksites to determine presence of obstructions and plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other crafts.
  • Cuts and bevels pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting machine.
  • Assembles and installs a variety of valves and fittings.
  • Prepares and fits pipe for welding by a certified pipe welder or joins pipe and fittings by means of threaded, brazed, or soldered joints.
  • Secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, or hangers.
  • Cut penetration in walls, ceilings or floors as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in pipe fitting in an industrial environment.
  • Possess general knowledge of the ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards.
  • Show a basic understanding and knowledge of the functional operation and purpose of the various piping system components such as valves, fittings, and expansion joints.
  • Display a thorough knowledge of the various sizes and grades of standard materials employed in an industrial plant such as bolts, gaskets, fittings, and valves.
  • Have ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information for drawings and specifications such as isometrics, orthographic, P&'s, equipment arrangements, etc.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the basic skills of measuring, layout work, cutting, straightening, beveling, threading and fitting pipe.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly use, interpret and care for the tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial project such as cutting torches, threading machines, grinder, beveling machines, round‑up clamps, etc.
  • NSTC Certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in the Oil and Gas industry, North Slope, and/or in Arctic Environment.
WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi‑Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.

Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self‑serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on‑site orientation.
