Overview
Be part of an exciting now program offering exposure to real-world construction and skilled trades environments through supervised work experience and paid training activities in Juneau, Alaska. Participants will complete a mix of classroom training, safety certifications, jobsite work experience, and career pathway exposure.
NOTE:
No previous construction experience or resume are required to apply.
- Assisting skilled trades professionals on active construction worksites.
- Participating in hands-on learning activities and basic jobsite tasks.
- Following workplace safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Completing required safety and workforce readiness training.
- Learning proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.
- Attending scheduled classroom instruction and training sessions.
- Working collaboratively with peers and supervisors.
- Demonstrating professionalism and reliability in a workplace setting.

- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be able to work outdoors and on construction sites.
- Be willing to follow strict workplace safety protocols.
- Confirmation of a high school diploma or GED either earned or pending.
- Posses an interest in construction or mechanical work.
- Be reliable and commit to maintaining perfect attendance in the program.
- Have a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Be able to work as part of a team.
- Maintain a positive attitude and commendable work ethic.
- Stand or walk for extended periods in construction environments.
- Lift or move materials up to approximately 40 pounds.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a strong sense of situational awareness to avoid injury or damage.
Application InstructionsNo resume is required to apply. During the process, you will be asked some preliminary questions about your trade career of interest and successful participation in weeks 1-5 will be required to advance to the 2nd phase of the training program.
PART 1:
- Week 1 - Training (Orientation, OSHA, MSHA, First Aid/CPR, PPE, jobsite basics)
- Weeks 2-5 - On the job training at an active construction jobsite.
PART 2:
- Week 6 - Extended training in an office environment.
- Week 7-10 - Extended jobsite placement and deeper exposure to trades careers.

Additional Program PoliciesSelected participants will be required to:
- Attend all scheduled training sessions

Applications will be reviewed by the Trade Up Juneau program team with selected finalists being invited to participate in a short interview and a program orientation session. Final participants will be notified before the program start date.
