Fire Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, assess equipment or system malfunctions, and contact the customer representative to determine the issue.
• Diagnose problems and perform repair and servicing on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites.
• Use technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to repair equipment.
• Service, troubleshoot, and install multiple manufacturers’ fire and life safety systems, including Simplex‑Grinnell.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
• Maintain excellent customer‑service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops; obtain customer signatures upon completion.
• Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and help train or mentor others on the service team.
• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items; offer solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Four or more years documented experience in low‑voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment such as multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Physical capability to carry and move equipment and tools up to 50‑70 lbs, climb ladders, scaffolding, and high‑lift equipment up to 40 ft, work within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
• Flexibility to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
• Demonstrated high level of customer service.
• Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
• Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record that meets company requirements.
• Retention of any licenses required by National, State, or Local codes.
• Provision of recommendations and quotes to support solutions and ensure facility efficiency.

• NICET Level II certification in Fire/Life Safety systems.
• Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks.
