Job Summary
Nordic Calista, a recognized well-service provider in Alaska, is searching for an experienced Senior Rig Electrician to install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, commission, and test electrical equipment and systems on rigs. The role supports the Winter Exploration 2025–2026 season, with a start date of December 2025 and an end date in April 2026.
Essential Functions- Collaborate with the rig manager to plan maintenance and repairs, preventing equipment breakdowns.
- Provide weekly updates to the rig manager on electrical supplies, tools, and parts needed for safe operation of rigs, camps, and vehicles.
- Install and repair equipment during rig and camp moves.
- Specialize in single- and three-phase electricity up to 600volts and in converting AC to DC power with silicone control rectifiers (SCR) on rigs.
- Assist mechanics, welders, and other crew as required.
- Adapt to harsh environmental conditions.
- Perform all duties safely in compliance with Nordic’s HSE policies and certifications.
- Lead audits for the Electrical Safety Policy and enforce work-permitting requirements.
- Identify operational non-conformances, report spills, unsafe work conditions, and hazards immediately.
- Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures and internal audits.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to communicate professionally.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, preventative maintenance, and on-site repairs.
- Experience with coiled tubing, well control, and downhole hydraulics.
- Proficiency with Pason and other related systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and implement efficient solutions.
- Capacity to adapt to sudden changes and emergency situations.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Capability to convey information across all organizational levels and with third-party vendors.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrable experience as a rig electrician.
- Valid journeyman card and license from the State of Alaska or a state with reciprocity.
- Experience with single- and three-phase systems, power generation, PLC controls, SCR, and AC-powered rigs.
- Troubleshooting skills for electrical systems and familiarity with assorted hand tools.
- Functional literacy, basic math skills, and ability to read electrical blueprints.
- Preferred knowledge of oilfield-related equipment and procedures.
Remote, industrial environment that is noisy, wet, oily, and may involve exposure to extreme weather. Work may occur offshore and at various rig heights.
