Compensation

$45.31 - $51.03

• Install and maintain all Alaska Communications services, facilities, and products in assigned work areas, both remote and non-remote.
• Work on terrestrial (buried and aerial) Copper and Fiber Optic Plant, Wireless and Microwave towers, and facilities such as Remote nodes, Access Points, and cross connects.
• Complete service orders, repair orders, capital work orders, and maintenance work.
• Perform Line Station Transfers and cuts.
• Install and qualify data cabling to the current specifications.
• Install all business and residential station wiring, establish demarcation points.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to determine potential deterioration in service.
• Install aerial and underground drops and determine underground drop location.
• Splice plant as required.
• Correct wiring deficiencies by splicing or replacing distribution, house cables, station wiring, or underground/aerial drops.

• High school diploma.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Four (4) years training in a relevant telephone apprentice program or equivalent experience leading to journeyman level performance.
• Two (2) years of experience in the skills and work performed in this position.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to climb and work on poles, and differentiate colors.

• Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A, as required.
• Valid Certificate of Medical Examination (Medical Card).
• Pass a Drug and Alcohol Background check.

• External applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment suitability assessment.
• Must pass a DOT or non-DOT drug test, depending on position.
