What you will be doing
This position performs maintenance, installation, and repair of facility systems and their components on Southcoast DOT&PF Facilities. Follows safe work practices, procedures, rules, and regulations. Contributes to organizational safety culture. Required to respond to facility requirements in the event of a natural or man‑made disaster/emergency.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThis position is located at the Juneau Hub Maintenance Shop and is responsible for maintaining, installing, and repairing facility systems and components across facilities maintained by the Southcoast Region Division of Facilities Services. The role requires occasional field inspections and may involve short‑duration travel, including travel via commercial or small aircraft, depending on the nature of the assignment.
Who We Are Looking For- Mechanical:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance. - Problem Solving:
Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. - Attention to Detail:
Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License required.
- Incumbent must be capable of wearing a respirator.
- Able to fly in small aircraft to remote locations.
- Work from elevated platforms, ladders, and manlifts up to 40`.
- Lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
- Position requires the incumbent to obtain an Asbestos Abatement Certificate.
