Position: Juvenile Justice Counselor 1/2 TSP (PCN 064802)

This position is open to Alaska Residents Only.

This position will be filled at either the 1 or 2 level depending on the applicant’s qualifications and job experience. It is recommended that you apply for all levels if you are qualified.

The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Juvenile Justice Counselor 1/2 Transitional Services position in Fairbanks at Fairbanks Juvenile Probation.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Work as a team with the Juvenile Probation Officer Re-entry Case Manager to implement the transitional services program.
  • Develop Re-entry Plans for each youth based on information received from their Individual Treatment Plan and their educational/vocational goals.
  • Assist with the Fairbanks Youth Probation Community Work Service Program.
  • Make direct face-to-face contact with juveniles in the community for intensive community supervision.
  • Work with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant to assist youth in their educational and employment goals.
  • Conduct transitional services with community probation youth who are returning home upon completion of residential treatment.
  • Work a non-standard workday to support youth in the community during transition.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is co-located with the Fairbanks Youth Facility, a 24 hour juvenile detention and treatment facility, located at 1502 Wilbur Street in Fairbanks. This office is comprised of six Juvenile Probation Officers (JPO), two JPO supervisors, one Social Services Associate (SSA) and one Transitional Services Juvenile Justice Counselor (JJC). In your versatile position, you will work out of both the probation office and the facility.
