The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1/2/3! No Cover Letter Required!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 15/17/19.

This position is located in Juneau. However, this position may be relocated within Alaska with necessary approvals where infrastructure allows.

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1/2/3, you will provide vocational rehabilitation counseling to consumers with disabilities by assisting them in obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment. You will do this by actively working with employers to develop relationships to provide those employment opportunities for consumers of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

You will be working with a dedicated team of professionals who have a sincere commitment to assisting individuals with disabilities obtain employment.

This position is a member of a team of professionals and paraprofessionals who help meet the mission of the DVR. The work you do will help individuals with disabilities become more self-sufficient and also help stimulate the Southeast economy. DVR employees have specialized education and certifications unique to their jobs, resulting in longevity of staff. This position is essential within the Division and progression through the counseling series is expected.

As such, obtaining and/or maintaining a Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) is required and supported by the Division.

This position is located in the Juneau Branch Office with approximately ten to twelve employees at any given time; consumers are served directly out of this office. The Juneau Branch Office operates during regular business hours (8am – 5pm), with flexibility within those hours and the ability for telework at times - you will have a significant amount of autonomy in scheduling your day and managing your workflow.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and one year of paraprofessional or professional experience providing social assistance services to people with disabilities. Alternatively, graduate education from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline will substitute for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
