Description
Zach Gordon Youth Services is looking for a qualified individual to fill our Street Outreach Youth Development Leader position at Shéiyi X_aat Hít Youth Shelter.
An ideal candidate for this position will be passionate about building healthy and supportive connections with the youth in our community. We are looking for someone outgoing, who can meet youth and families where they're at and help them to work through challenges. We are looking for someone who is calm in crisis with problem solving skills, strong communication, flexibility and empathy.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This is a part-time position working Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:00pm-11:00pm, with the opportunity for additional hours.
Typical Responsibilities
The Street Outreach Youth Development Leader participates in street outreach, and is responsible for making connections with youth who may be unhoused, runaways, or at risk of running away. This may include providing transportation to the shelter, to a youth's home, or to another safe location. You will have the opportunity to build connections with youth in the community, as well as community partners.
Building connections with youth may include engaging in recreational activities with youth, providing supplies to support youth in meeting their needs, and supporting youth with communication.
You will be working alongside a Navigator or Advocate from Zach Gordon and Shéiyi X_aat Hít. At times, you will have the opportunity to provide services to youth in their homes, and the opportunity to help mediate conflict or engage youth and families in restorative conversations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent;
AND
Any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.
Substitute:
Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience
License:
A valid driver's license at time of appointment and for continued employment
Other:
First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of appointment
Note: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
For Shelter Positions: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.400 (9) Appointment to this position is offered conditionally, pending the results of a National Criminal History report through the FBI. Applicants must submit their fingerprints to continue in the hiring approval process. The applicant will receive a copy of the report of findings and may dispute within 5 days of receiving them. Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
