WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This Criminal Justice Technician ½ Flex position is one of two positions that support the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU). The role directly supports investigators within their areas of research, criminal intelligence, parcel interdiction, and case development and management. Duties include tracking assets seized by the unit, assisting investigators with case development, researching information pertaining to criminal history checks, and performing administrative tasks such as payroll, travel coordination, and compiling statistical reports.
OURORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTURE
The mission of the SDEU is to interdict and seize alcohol and controlled substances that are illegally distributed throughout Alaska. The Department of Public Safety’s mission is to ensure public safety by removing illegal drugs and alcohol from the street and dismantling drug trafficking organizations. Your role supports investigators by handling many administrative and clerical tasks, enabling them to focus on field work.

Requires a fingerprint‑based criminal history background check. Applicants with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENTThe successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and sign a confidentiality agreement concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety.
EDUCATIONApplicants must provide verified educational credentials, including transcripts. If no degree, indicate units completed. Transcripts may be attached with the application or provided at interview; if not, they must be submitted before employment.
WORK EXPERIENCEAll relevant work experiences that meet the minimum qualifications must be documented, including employer name, job title, dates, and whether employment was full or part‑time. Submissions lacking sufficient information may not advance.
