Position: TSU Juvenile Probation Officer 1/2 (PCN 063556)

Juvenile Probation Officer

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.

The Juneau Youth Probation is recruiting to fill a Juvenile Probation Officer 1/2 located at the Johnson Youth Center.

As a Retry Case Manager JPO you will be working to positively influence, motivate, and steer young offenders toward community restoration and developing competencies to lead a productive and crime free life. This position assists with transitioning youth back into the community after completion of a b1 institution order as well as the managing of community cases. JPOs are asked to set high expectations for themselves as well as the youth they work with.

You will collaborate with detention and treatment facility staff as well as other community agencies for care and collaboration. At times you may be required to arrest, restrain, and transport a youth or to travel to itinerant community for JPO duties. Additional JPO duties include, but are not limited to, drafting court documents, data entry, court presentation, youth supervision, site audits, mandatory training, and on-call coverage.

The working environment you can expect

This position is centrally located in Juneau at the Johnson Youth Center, 3252 Hospital Drive. Each officer has their own office from which to work, and there is a small fitness area with shower on site. While most of the work is local to Juneau, supervising our probationers does occasionally require travel to other communities, working a variety of hours, and sharing on-call responsibilities with other staff.

In addition to Juneau, we supervise probationers in Gustavus, Haines, Hoonah, Skagway, and Yakutat.
