The Group Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting participants of Family Wellness parenting groups by promoting responsible parenting and enhancing child safety and well-being. This position involves co-planning and co-leading sessions that integrate instructional content with hands-on skill-building and group dialogue, all grounded in established curriculum. Working in partnership with our people, the Group Facilitator/Cultural Mentor helps develop opportunities that fulfill our endless potential by strengthening parenting skills, fostering self-sufficiency, and supporting overall family stability.

Additionally, this role designs and leads community activities that build family connections and resilience, incorporating traditional practices, including subsistence-based tasks.

Deliver both group and one-on-one instruction and skill modeling, facilitating group discussions to support child development, safety, structured home environments, community engagement, peer relationships, and social skill-building.

Support participants in developing new skills by observing behavior patterns, identifying alternative approaches, and providing guidance through demonstration and hands-on practice.

Assist participants by connecting them with appropriate services and resources tailored to their individual needs.

Coordinate transportation for families to attend outdoor events, some of which may require long-distance travel.

Work with the program team to plan and implement educational sessions, skill-building activities, and experiential learning opportunities.

Gather necessary information by conducting interviews and administering surveys.

Maintain program documentation of required data collection forms, data entry, and monitor data completion/accuracy.

Coordinate effective delivery of services and outcome evaluation with Family Wellness Director/Sr. Director and Program Manager.

Maintain operations by following policies and procedures, participating in quality reviews, and reporting needed changes.

Maintain respectful and professional interactions with participants and community partners.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

Strong understanding of child development and parent education.

Able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings.

Demonstrated ability to work as an active participant in a team environment.

Proficient with computers including word processing, email communication, internet resourcing, spreadsheets, and case management systems.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.

Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

One (1) year of experience in the delivery of educational and supportive group services.

Experience working in a non-profit or social services setting.

The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.

Must be able to participate in subsistence and outdoor activities such as fishing (snag, dipnet, and set net), hiking (easy to intermediate trails), and foraging for berries and plants.
