Job DescriptionThe Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for an Equipment Operator, Journey 2 to help us keep Alaska moving.
What You Will Be DoingUnder general supervision, professionally operate all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of the Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Examples of equipment include motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, snow removal machines, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor‑trailer combinations.
The candidate will operate equipment on the airfield and airport property, ensuring safe and efficient operation in dynamic conditions, especially during snow/ice events. Responsibilities include removing snow from airfield surfaces, parking lots, roadways, and sidewalks; cleaning equipment; performing emergency concrete and asphalt repair; brush and tree removal; and various labor‑intensive tasks.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThis position is located at the Anchorage International Airport. Work involves maintaining critical transportation infrastructure in a state with diverse terrain and extreme weather conditions.

- This position is also eligible for overtime and shift differential.
Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral, except for promotions, demotions, transfers, and emergency appointments.

Airport Security BadgeCandidates must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with TSA regulations, including fingerprinting, criminal background check, and TSA Security Threat Assessment.
Commercial Driver's License RequiredPosition requires a Class A Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of hire with an N‑Tanker endorsement required within 120 days. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements.
