SummaryThe Haul Truck Driver position is responsible for operating articulated haul trucks safely and efficiently. The driver operates per supervisor’s instructions, cleans, maintains and secures the haul truck, and may work independently or as part of a team.
Essential Functions- Operate trucks to transport and stockpile materials and equipment.
- Use hand‑held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Clean trucks as scheduled or required.
- Maintain trucks and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Report damage immediately to supervisor.
- Use haul truck for intended purpose with minimal assistance.
- Track and submit daily load records.
- Secure trucks and equipment.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum:
- A valid driver licence.
- Experience with A45 Volvo Articulated Haul Truck, Cat 740 & 745 Articulated Haul Truck, and equipment safety.
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain truck/equipment and follow related procedures.
- Ability to communicate in writing clearly.
- Ability to communicate verbally effectively.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently or as a team member.
- Ability to follow safety and incident reporting procedures.
- Ability to meet project schedule reliably.
- Ability to wear protective clothing.
- Lifting 50 lbs (frequent).
- Carrying 10–50 lbs (frequent).
- Pushing/Pulling 50–100 lbs (frequent).
- Standing, walking, and reaching overhead frequently.
- Working in a hot or cold environment.
- Exposure to inclement weather, extreme cold, heat, wet/humid conditions, noise, vibration, diesel fumes, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, high exposed places, radiant energy, explosives, toxic chemicals, and other hazards.
Employees may be required to follow any other job‑related instructions and perform other duties as requested by authorized individuals.
