Job Summary
The Facilities Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of daily workloads, executing assigned projects, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the heavy equipment fleet. This role involves maintaining and repairing roads, airport runways, and drill site pads. Responsibilities also include winter maintenance activities such as snow removal on roads, runways, and pads, as well as material handling and organization within the Kuparuk field.
A valid U.S.
-issued, Alaska-compliant Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with both Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is required.
- Reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman.
- Operates pad, road, and runway maintenance and repair; maintains specified crown, grade, and elevation; performs winter maintenance including snow removal; supplies facilities, assists in facility maintenance and construction; provides drill rig moves with equipment support.
- Becomes OSHA certified in trenching and excavation and performs trenching and excavating activities safely.
- Operates heavy equipment in Kuparuk’s fleet safely and proficiently.
- Operates fleet including Cat dozers, Volvo front‑end loaders, Cat compactors, Cat excavators, Kenworth, Peterbilt 5th wheel tractors, Bobcat, Volvo skid steers, 16 Cat blades, lowboy, flat bed and end dump trailers, loader‑mounted snow blowers, water trucks, and rock trucks.
- Uses rotary lasers and site levels to establish grade and set grade hubs and stakes.
- Prepares, updates, and maintains logs, records, and timecards.
- Monitors equipment operation, performs pre‑operation inspections, identifies malfunctions, fills out maintenance requests, and cleans equipment.
- Inspects, adjusts, and performs minor equipment repairs.
- Helps prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment, and tools.
- Emphasizes safety and environmental priority.
- Supports AES zero‑incident safety culture and assumes personal accountability for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid U.S. issued, Alaska compliant Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- North Slope Training Cooperative safety training certification.
- Ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2×2 or 3×3 rotation.
- At least three (3) years of experience operating Cat Dozers, Volvo Front‑end Loaders, Cat Compactors, Cat Excavators, Kenworth and Peterbilt 5th Wheel‑Tractors, Bobcat, and Volvo Skid‑Steers, 16 Cat Blades, Lowboy Trailers, Flat‑bed Trailers, End‑Dump Trailers, Loader‑mounted Snow Blowers, Water‑trucks, and Rock‑trucks as a Facilities Equipment Operator.
- Four (4) or more years of experience as a Facilities Equipment Operator in a construction or industrial setting, the petrochemical or oil and gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environments.
- Current OSHA Trenching and Excavation Certification.

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, lodging and food will be provided. All camps offer warm meals and options for quick lunch or snack from spike rooms.
