Tram Attendant - Seasonal

Summary

Under the direction of the Tram Operations Supervisor and/or Tram Operator, the attendant is responsible for loading/unloading passengers on/off an aerial tramway cabin. Attendants also perform cabin attendant duties inside the cabin during passenger transport.

This position is based in Juneau, Alaska. Applicants must currently reside in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan and may receive discretionary performance bonuses. Starting Rate: $20.00 - DOE.

• Safely manage passenger traffic on/off the cabin in accordance with GATI policies and ANSI B-77 guidelines.
• Advise and assist passengers.
• Maintain surveillance of the jurisdiction; authorized to stop cabin movement when necessary for safety.
• Notify the Tram Operator of abnormal or adverse conditions that may endanger passenger safety, and respond appropriately by:
• Assisting passengers.
• Immediately stopping the aerial tram and advising the Tram Operator.
• Continuing operation and observation.
• Denying access to the tramway to any person, following procedures.
• Staying current on training related to enclosed cabins, loading/unloading, control center communications, and customer service.
• Following proper use of manual switches, load limits, passenger capacity, emergency evacuation equipment, and applicable safety procedures.
• Assisting with housekeeping tasks such as cabin cleaning, window cleaning, and vacuuming/sweeping/mopping of the loading area.
• Receiving daily guidance, training, or work assignments from the shift Tram Supervisor when the Tram Operations Manager is absent.
• Immediately communicating any problems that could interfere with safe tram operation.
• Following emergency evacuation procedures and assisting with evacuating the cabin in a calm, professional manner.
• Working effectively as a team member.
• Performing other incidental duties as required and assigned.

• Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
• Ability to work all different shifts including days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
• Ability to handle stress under pressure.
• Ability to provide quality customer service.
• Ability to physically climb out of the tramway cabin during Rescue Car Evacuation under the direction of the Director of Ops & Facilities or the Tram Operations Manager.
• Ability to physically rope evacuate passengers and self from cabin.
• Excellent communication and superior customer service skills.
• Ability to learn, understand and follow verbal and written instructions/directions.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Ability to work directly with the public, providing prompt and courteous information and assistance on a daily basis.
• Ability/willingness to learn and share information about local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
• Ability to stay calm, cool and collected in the event of a tram operation stoppage of any kind, guiding guests as required.

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.

• Prior Tram Operations experience.
• Current CPR and first aid certificates.
