Salary Information
Equipment Operator Journey 1: $31.62 / hourly – OT Eligible
Equipment Operator Journey 2: $33.44 / hourly – OT Eligible
Equipment Operator Lead/Journey 3: $35.53 / hourly – OT Eligible

• Equipment Operator Journey 1: Performs airport and highway maintenance at a State maintenance station that includes a rural Part 139 certified airport. Responsible for maintaining State highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public. Complies with all applicable Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of highways and airports.
  
  This position will utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavy equipment will be in a training capacity.
• Equipment Operator Journey 2: Performs airport and highway maintenance at the State maintenance station that includes a rural Part 139 certified airport. Responsible for maintaining State highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public. Complies with all applicable FHWA, FAA, TSA, and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of highways and airports.
• Equipment Operator Lead/Journey 3: Performs airport and highway maintenance at a State maintenance station that includes a rural Part 139 certified airport. Responsible for maintaining State highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public. Complies with all applicable FHWA, FAA, TSA, and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of highways and airports.

This position follows a two-weeks-on / two-weeks-off (2/2) rotational schedule to support continuous operations at the airport. While the Foreman is on their two weeks off, a designated Equipment Operator will serve as the Lead to maintain oversight of daily activities, ensure operational continuity, and provide on-site leadership. This structure ensures consistent coverage, and supports critical airport functions throughout the rotation cycle.

This position is located in King Salmon. The crew operates and maintains the airport and highways in all conditions, year around. The ideal candidate will thrive in the variety of tasks and the teamwork that this busy environment offers.

• Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road including cost and limits.
• Vehicle operation: Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, or watercraft.
• Problem solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
• Eye-hand coordination: Accurately coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to perform job-related tasks (for example, to move, carry, or manipulate objects).
