Supports successful delivery of the substation construction project by coordinating field activities and helping ensure schedule, safety, budget, and quality goals are achieved alongside the Project Field Manager. This is a construction field position in Hawaii.
Key Responsibilities- Provide site construction teams with means, methods, and staffing to support construction of Substation.
- Work with EH&S group to develop and maintain safety program associated with construction activities.
- Develop Craft Training and Certification program for lineman and groundman trades for Open‑shop craft employees.
- Develop and maintain construction procedures and quality programs associated with the construction of Substation work.
- Identify and support recruitment of craft and leadership associated with project work.
- Support project proposals, including development of staffing, equipment, and other direct and indirect quantities and costs to support estimate development.
- Lead and participate in design constructability reviews.
- Support subcontract development for projects as needed.
- Actively involve in project risk reviews, including identifying and developing mitigation plans associated with construction.
- Assist site team in resolving problems and report on issues related to drawings and information, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost, and report to Operations Manager, Construction Manager and Project Controls Manager.
- Takes necessary actions to maintain targets and develop corrective plans to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verify that all equipment, material, manpower and resources needed to support Project Schedule are available and on site.
- Review all timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Develop a stable working relationship with client and assigned subcontractor(s).
- Develop and distribute a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages within scope.
- Identify potential back charges and out‑of‑scope issues and report to Construction Manager.
- Support commercial recovery process.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with implementation of improvements.
- Direct hire Substation construction experience preferred.
- Experience with outage plans within construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction or engineering and craft experience and above preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience as Construction Manager level or above.
- 8+ years with a degree or 14+ years without degree of Substation experience.
- Knowledge of project budget process and tools.
- Knowledge of department budget process and tools.
- Knowledge of project controls.
- Risk assessment/management.
- Administrative policies and procedures.
- Construction Project Management Systems.
- Conceptual planning ability.

- 14+ years construction supervisory experience required, with at least 3 years of previous construction manager experience.
