Position: SUPERINTENDENT - OAHU - BUILDING DIVISION

SUPERINTENDENT - OAHU - BUILDING DIVISION (Regular Full Time)

JOB OVERVIEW

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role leads field operations, coordinates subcontractors and self-performed work, manages labor and equipment, and maintains strong client and team relationships. The Superintendent plays a key role in project financial performance, staff development, and protecting the company’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.

PRIMARY

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Field Operations
  • Lead and supervise all field construction activities, including planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate field labor, support development of subordinate staff.
  • Coordinate subcontractors to align with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Manage daily work plans, labor productivity, equipment usage, and material needs.
  • Review self-performed and subcontractor work to ensure compliance with contract documents and quality standards.
  • Utilize project schedules (P6 or MS Project) and estimates to guide manpower, durations, and production goals.
Project Administration
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Engineers on schedules, safety plans, quality control, and productivity planning.
  • Participate in preconstruction and ongoing project meetings, including owner, architect, subcontractor, and internal meetings.
  • Assist with shop drawing reviews, submittals, change coordination, and project documentation.
  • Develop look-ahead schedules, support punch list completion, and assist with project closeout activities.
Safety, Quality & Client Relations
  • Enforce all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies for employees and subcontractors.
  • Conduct safety observations, daily site reviews, and hazard analyses.
  • Ensure all work meets contractual and company quality standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver an exceptional client experience.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field or equivalent combination of trade apprenticeship and relevant construction experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of practical construction experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in concrete, precast, or wood framing scopes, including residential communities, affordable housing, and other vertical construction projects.
