At Tom's Backhoe & Excavation, we’re not looking for someone to simply fill a position. We’re looking for someone who wants to help us build the next chapter of our company.

Since 1977, we’ve been serving Maui through excavation, site development, underground utilities, septic systems, roadway improvements, and striping projects. We’re a growing company where good people can make a real difference.

When you work here, you’re not one of twenty foremen competing for attention. You’ll work directly with company leadership, have a voice in how projects are run, and be surrounded by a team that wants to see each other succeed.

• Lead daily field operations on civil construction projects
• Coordinate crews, equipment, and materials
• Read and interpret plans and specifications
• Set grade and verify work quality
• Oversee installation of sewer, water, storm drain, and underground utilities
• Operate heavy equipment as needed
• Maintain safe, productive jobsites
• Communicate with Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and customers
• Train and develop crew members
• Identify problems early and help implement solutions
• Take ownership of project outcomes

• 5+ years of civil construction experience
• Previous foreman or crew leadership experience
• Experience reading plans and specifications
• Experience setting grade
• Underground utility installation experience
• Heavy equipment operating experience
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Valid driver’s license

• CDL
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Trench safety and shoring experience
• Commercial site development experience
• Roadway construction experience
• Striping experience
