Position: HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT V - OAHU (OHHI)

Recruitment Information

Recruitment Number: OHHI-26010. Vacancy with the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism in Downtown.

This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast‑tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary: $3,900 to $4,933 per month (SR‑13, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors. Duties Summary

Independently performs substantive human resources clerical work that includes a significant proportion of tasks of a novel and/or unusually complicated nature, presenting many possible alternative courses of action and requiring considerable judgment; performs limited technical assistance work; and performs other related duties as assigned. May also provide guidance or supervision to lower‑level clerical or human resources positions, responsible for training, developing and improving work procedures and materials, scheduling and monitoring work assignments, and performing other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Legal Authorization To Work Requirement
    :
    The State of Hawai‘i requires all persons seeking employment with the state government to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • General Experience
    :
    One year of progressively responsible general office clerical experience.
  • Specialized Experience
    :
    Three years of experience in an office where the work required the knowledge and application of pertinent human resources rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Supervisory Aptitude
    :
    Some positions may require supervisory aptitude, demonstrated through successful completion of regular or special assignments that involve supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, serving as a group or team leader, completing supervision training courses, or receiving favorable appraisals indicating supervisory potential.
  • Substitutions Allowed
    :
    Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
