The purpose of the Environmental Management Infrastructure Project (EMIP) is to support the implementation and ensure capacity to implement environmental recovery projects, after disasters and emergencies to protect Hawaii’s water, land and air and mitigate their impact on public health.
These environmental and public health protection efforts include managing traditional environmental pollutants and hazards.
The purpose of this position is to support Geologists in difficult and complex geologic studies, reviews, and investigations, gaining experience to perform these studies independently. Activities include reviewing underground injection control permit applications and reports by consultant geologist on the effects of underground injection activities on groundwater, inspecting or reviewing inspection reports of underground injection control (UIC) facilities to determine compliance with permit conditions, field investigations to determine the impact of various activities on groundwater resources and the suitable location of the UIC Line, and public health education.
EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in geology.
EXPERIENCEThree (3) months or more of experience with geologic, hydrogeologic, environmental data evaluation or mapping, which may be obtained during field caps, mapping, internships or countering, or through work experience is preferred.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework work schedule after completion of six months of credible service and upon approval by the supervisor.
