The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and executing commercial and military ship repair/ dry dock projects ranging from $1M to $100M. This role has full accountability for project performance, including cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction, within a fast-paced shipyard environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader and communicator with extensive experience in ship repair, government contracts, and marine engineering. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers and coordinates closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and vessel stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary customer interface for assigned ship repair contracts
- Manage and supervise project management staff
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Oversee contract execution, change management, and negotiations
- Conduct daily and weekly meetings with customers, production teams, and executive leadership
- Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, Navy standards, and shipyard procedures
- Interpret and manage complex work specifications, drawings, technical manuals, and NAVSEA Standard Items
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years of ship repair or marine industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience
- Experience managing federal and military contracts
- Knowledge of shipboard tag-out procedures and Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAF)
- Strong scheduling, work sequencing, and resource management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project (or similar scheduling software)
- U.S. citizenship and legal right to work in the U.S. (security clearance required)
- Ability to obtain TWIC and DBIDS credentials
- Ability to pass post-offer drug screening and background check
- Valid U.S. passport or REAL r’s license
- Annual salary range: $125,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience plus bonus up to 40%
